General

What are the ISU World Figure Skating Championships® 2025?

Sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU), the ISU World Figure Skating Championships® is an annual competition that brings together the top figure skaters from around the world to compete for the title of World Champion. More than 200 athletes from an anticipated 40 countries will compete in the four skating disciplines of men, women, pairs and ice dance. With the exception of the Olympic title, a world title is considered the highest competitive achievement in figure skating.

Where are the ISU World Figure Skating Championships® 2025 being held?

All competition events for the ISU World Figure Skating Championships® 2025 will be held at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. TD Garden is located at 100 Legends Way, Boston, MA 02114, United States.

Practice sessions will be hosted nearby at Steriti Memorial Rink, in Boston’s North End.

Why do I see the slogan, “The World Returns to Boston!”?

This event was last held in the United States and Boston in 2016. The event was an outstanding success for participants and spectators alike and helped make Boston a clear, front-runner to host again when the event next returned to the United States. In fact, Boston is arguably the birthplace of figure skating in the United States, the first home to U.S. Figure Skating, the national governing body for the sport in the United States, and many of our country’s early national, world and Olympic medalists. More recently TD Garden has hosted some of the sport’s biggest events, including the 2001 & 2014 U.S. Figure Skating Championships and the 2016 ISU World Figure Skating Championships. In addition, The Skating Club of Boston most recently hosted the 2022 Skate America at their home facility in Norwood, MA. For more information on Boston’s figure- skating history, check out The Skating Club of Boston’s website.

When will the event and practice schedules come out?

The event competition schedule is always subject to change due to the number of entries of participating countries and qualifying scores. A preliminary event schedule is currently posted on our  Competition Schedule page. The practice schedule will be available closer to the start of the actual event.

Will the event be broadcast or live-streamed?

The ISU World Figure Skating Championships® 2025 will be broadcast by NBC Sports in the United States on a live and tape-delayed basis. Other countries, including Japan and Canada, and more than 40 other countries will also broadcast the event. Details on NBC’s broadcast schedule will be posted here on the ISUWorlds2025.com website closer to the event date.

What are the hotel options for visitors attending the event?

The local organizing committee is currently negotiating agreements with a wide variety of hotels to be official participating hotels for the event. An official hotel for the event will offer a favorable rate to spectators, and other benefits where possible, including complimentary WIFI and in-house breakfasts. We are also looking for hotels that are easily accessible to TD Garden by either walking or public transportation. Many hotels will be in the Copley Square area of Boston, known for its world-class restaurants, bars, and shopping. A list of participating official hotels can be found  here  including rates, information on location, and links for how to book once they are available.

Where will practices be held?

The practice facility is at DCR Steriti Memorial Rink, a short, five-minute walk (0.3 miles/0.5 kilometers) from the TD Garden. Seating at the Steriti Arena is limited and only credentialed personnel will be able to enter. Admission to the practice sessions at TD Garden is only with a (reusable) practice pass that is sold as part of an All-Event ticket. Practice passes will not be sold individually.

Can I volunteer for the event?

We have reached our capacity for volunteers and thank everyone for your interest.

If you have filled out the application, our team is reviewing and will be in touch with those we will need for the event. Our volunteer coordinators are going through all the applications and assigning them to the committee chairs so they can build their teams for the event.

If you have not heard back from anyone by December 15, 2024, please contact  volunteer@isuworlds2025.com .

What is the “Kiss & Cry” area, and where is it located?

The Kiss-and-Cry area for a skating competition is where the skaters sit with their coach(es) after performing their program and while waiting for their scores. Its name references the range of emotions a skater and their coach(es) might experience after the skater has performed.

For the ISU World Figure Skating Championships 2025, the Kiss and Cry will be located at ice level in Section Loge 18 of TD Garden.

Are tickets refundable?

Once you have approved and confirmed the seat selection for your tickets, all ticket sales are final. They will not be refundable for any reason. Please know that the event schedule is not yet set, and competition start and finish times will be subject to change until the week of the event. This is because the number of participating athletes may change due to injury or other unforeseen circumstances that are beyond the control of the event organizers.

Is the process to purchase tickets the same for international visitors?

Yes, international visitors should be able to purchase tickets smoothly through the Local Organizing Committee by using their credit card. Based on our experience, we have seen that international credit card holders do have an increase in decline rates if they do not notify their credit card company that they are making an international purchase. The best way to avoid this is to contact your bank to authorize international transactions BEFORE purchasing your tickets.
